CD 160 SS [010]: (F-Skirt) S.S & Co. MFG'S./CHICAGO/Nº 40 (R-Skirt) DOUBLE/PETTICOAT  SB

This month we're featuring a "baby signal": the CD 160 S.S.&Co. No.40. This insulator was manufactured by Hemingray for S.S.&Co. (which is believed to stand for Shay, Stevens & Co.) These are very difficult to find, and due to their fragile edges are frequently found damaged, like this example. Hemingray reused this mold later on, replacing "S.S.&Co." with "H.G.Co." but leaving the "No.40" embossing beneath it (speaking of which, if you have the No.40 H.G.Co. embossing I will pay top dollar!)
